HYPERTENSION

High Blood Pressure:

Hypertension, which is also known as high blood pressure, is also prevalent in the African/Caribbean community. It could be as high as 1 in 3 people in the black community who suffer with high blood pressure. Hypertension causes damage to the blood vessels and vital organs, such as the heart, kidneys and brain. It is the main risk factor of strokes.

Reducing salt in the diet, loss of weight, regular exercise, and sometimes medication can control hypertension. If medication is necessary, make sure you work together with your doctor and report all side effects as this will help the doctor to find the most appropriate medication for you. It is important that you receive and take the right medication and dosage at the time as stated on the medicine bottle. For further advice, see your doctor.

ALWAYS CONSULT YOUR DOCTOR BEFORE TAKING BUSH TEAS, HERBAL MEDICINES AND SUPPLEMENTS.
